one of the greatest movies i have ever seen. The music was used soo well, it was the actual "requiem" for the dreams the actors had in the movie. I highly recommend this to anyone.

GREAT movie...GREAT soundtrack. I watched it and as soon as the credits started rolling I just sat in awe and said "wow, remind me to never watch that movie again." That means it was just THAT amazing. "I'm not worthy..." :p

Damn. I guess I should probably see this since I loved Trainspotting so much. Funny thing, I had never even heard of it.

OK, I got it on all your recommendations. . . the best parts were when he tells his mom he's buying her a tv and she starts talking to Seymour. . . The arm sore was really disgusting. . . Overall it was decent but I don't think I'd get it again. OH, and I saw the edited version, that's all they had. Has anyone seen it unedited, and if so, what's different?

Damn good flick. Someone suggested that I see it because they thought I was shooting up... bitch. Anyways, Ellen Burstyn was excellent and she deserved the academy award. This movie is the ultimate anti-drug flick... Traffic and Blow were definately not as good as Requiem for a Dream. Parents should show this to their children.

Ellen Burstyn goes insane and Jared Leto loses him arm (because of drugs)... I beg to differ Guerilla...

not to mention what Jennifer had to go through for a little bag of sugar

I thought it was an anti-addiction film, not simply drugs.
19 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Saturday 9/21/02 - 7:33:45 PM EST (GMT-5)

NOT and anti drug flick, Guerilla? I don't know about you, but it sure made me not want to do them.

I thought the whole point of the film was that it went beyond just focusing on hard drugs, and showed instead the culture of addiction. Personally, I think if you walk away from this film saying, "I'll never do heroin", you've missed the point. The commentary was much larger.

wiseNsexy got it.
19 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 9/22/02 - 4:17:20 AM EST (GMT-5)
This movie is based on the book "Requiem for a dream" by Hubert Selby Jr. Does that mean his book is anti drug/addiction??
19 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 9/26/02 - 2:18:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
This movie does not have a strong anti-heroin message in it. But it does show the realities of addiction, which are none-too-pleasant. I haven't read the book, but I'm sure that doesn't have a kind of agenda either. These aren't documentaries for middle schoolers, they're art. But it is commentary though, and I wouldn't say it casts a glorious rock-and-roll light on drug use.

its like trainspotting. its the reality of the underworld of hard drug use. i dont see it as anything more than this. it doesnt glorify it in any way, but its not saying "dont do drugs, or you'll end up like these guys" either.

I really would like to see this movie. I don't know why I haven't yet.
