They should have those everywhere!!! Cheap, simple, and they don't take up much space.

I'd love to stay in a hotel like this. I like having a small space in which to sleep; also, since they're generally used by tired businessmen and/or people who just want to sleep, it's quiet. Add to it that these "rooms" are extremely cheap, and I'm sold.

I'd freak out if something like lodged the door shut and I was trapped.

it looks mighty fine to me. I like smaller places opposed to large ones anyways.
And for $20? Hell yes!

Main thing: It's $20-$50.
It's in Tokyo.

That's dirt cheap for Tokyo.
When I used to live in London I was paying almost $100 a day for a studio apartment in rent, nevermind a hotel.

"wow lol not sure why someone would want to stay there" - Saving $560 a week. :P

i want to live in a big coffin!
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 9/2/07 - 1:44:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
great idea, but they should be a little bigger, like twice the size...that'd be cool
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 9/2/07 - 1:44:30 PM EST (GMT-5)
i think they have stuff like this because japanese are over worked. I even saw a g4 show of the developers for GT and they sleep under their desk lot of times.

It would be a cheap way to travel if you're short. But I'd never fit in one. Of course there aren't many tall people in Japan so it's not really an issue for them.
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 9/2/07 - 2:18:15 PM EST (GMT-5)
awesome i'll have to try that when i go visit Japan.

The downside to staying in these is that you have to drop quarters in every hour, or the oxygen runs out. Seriously, though, the beds they give us to sleep in on aircraft carriers are literally half the height of those, and a little narrower, too. And part of the bed is a locker, which is not coincidentally called a "coffin locker".

well when I go there in a few months I'll let you guys know how they are ;)
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 9/2/07 - 2:52:03 PM EST (GMT-5)

14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 9/2/07 - 3:10:17 PM EST (GMT-5)
Heard of them before, bad for people who are claustrophobic o.0
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 9/2/07 - 3:14:20 PM EST (GMT-5)
I couldn't be able to sleep in there... I'd feel like the wall was closing on me.
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 9/2/07 - 3:38:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
I saw something similar to that, but there were small rooms that moved around. It was cool.

I'm getting claustrophobic just watching this.
