Many people in Western Ukraine are more culturally attached to Russia.

The Strong opposition to Russia comes from the Nationalists in the East, who criticise those in the west for not being as strongly opposed to Russia. Many people will just leave and live in peace somewhere else or just revert to living under Russian influence. In the West of Ukraine they will fight an eternal war. That's what I hear from the refugees here that are from the East. Let them have it, I'm not going back anyway.

Putin will f*ck it up in the long term and he will end up being kicked out when the area becomes an economic burden.

Putin needs to play crusader kings, like he's trying to control one of the most difficult to conquer territories on the planet, and really the only effective way to hold that territory is to conquer the rest of the fxcking black sea first. The Caucuses run themselves and they only let anyone else believe otherwise when it's convenient for the Caucuses.

The best hope for a quick end to this is if Putin is assassinated.

Really? I think that'd drag it out. It's not like there's great people in that line of succession?
3 days ago - Monday 9/26/22 - 2:26:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
Usually the successor of an assassinated leader will change course. His biggest motivation is not getting assassinated himself.
3 days ago - Monday 9/26/22 - 8:50:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah but with these guys it absolutely wouldn't be a good course. Putin is actually a step up from most of them in both the morality and intelligence department, and that's not a defense of Putin that's just a fairly neutral assessment of that consortium of mobsters and Ex-KGB that is the Russian government. Like, would the cease hostilities with the Ukrainian government? I mean maybe, but only if they could drat up Ukraine and another country at the same time for more money.

Beware Russia's dead hand...

Again the people in Western Ukriane don't need to be "conquered" they would be happy to be under Russian rule. Putin doesn't want to conquer the rest of Ukraine. He has grabbed what he wanted and the people in that area will be complicit in the annexation of this area.

Ukrainian Nationalists in the rest of the country can stamp their feet for 100 years but this is a done deal now. What it does for the future economy and reputation of Russia is another matter.

Putin wants to claim that Ukraine territory; then he thinks that will give him justification to continue attacking. He’ll just say he’s defending Russian territory.
2 days ago - Tuesday 9/27/22 - 5:06:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
Btw, Putin just showed the world how weak the Russian military is. If Russia had no nukes, the Ukrainian army would’ve already been on the march towards Moscow.
1 day ago - Wednesday 9/28/22 - 2:23:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
Your 2 statments are contradictory.

Putin ha pushed as far as he can and has annexed the area where he can claim he holds the support of the people through some kind of referendum..

He isn't capable either Political of physically of enforcing an occupation of the entire country..
1 day ago - Wednesday 9/28/22 - 11:27:42 AM EST (GMT-5)
Not contradictory. One is that he’s trying to provide justification for his actions in this war. Two, his army is weak.
1 day ago - Wednesday 9/28/22 - 11:31:25 AM EST (GMT-5)
But Putin has a huge stockpile of weapons at his disposal of varying degrees of destruction, topping off with nukes. Im sure Putin will continue until Ukraine becomes a lifeless wasteland.
1 day ago - Wednesday 9/28/22 - 11:34:49 AM EST (GMT-5)
And the Russian history books will record this as brave Putin defending Ukraine from the evil NATO countries.
1 day ago - Wednesday 9/28/22 - 12:55:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
Noldor you are once again proving how clueless you are about the real world.

His rhetoric from the start was about "saving the ethnic Russians from "Nazis"

That is the imaginary Nazis who took over in Ukraine after the fall of the soviet union. Because in his mind they are one and the same as the people who sided with Hitler when Gerrmany invaided in 1941.

Whatever land (and people end up under Russian occpation will be "ethnicc Russian" and he will hold a referendum to demonstrate it.

American jackasses like you always promote these Armageddon fantasies where "wasteland"s are the ultimate end game. "Turning the Middle East into glass" for example. Just your own dumb stupid response to everything.
1 day ago - Wednesday 9/28/22 - 1:00:57 PM EST (GMT-5)
Even he is smarter than your stupid self. Every game of nuclear brinkmanship singe the cold war started has been an attempted tactical land grab and then potential negotiation. NATO has been training for this since forever. Jerks like you on the internet haven't got a clue.
You said yourself that he itoo weak so it is conadictory to imagine he will never stop, because if he never stops he can't claim he won.

That is what you fail to see because you are too hung up on your "wasteland" fantasies.
Putin will negotiate at the high point of his invasion because at that point he has nothing more to gain. and everything to lose. He is already laying down the grounds for a referendum (Plebiscite) to divide the country and isolate the Ukrainian nationalists in the East. That is what he wants to be recorded from his term.
1 day ago - Wednesday 9/28/22 - 1:01:28 PM EST (GMT-5)

Your fantasies are ridiculous.
Ukraine will be divided just like Germany was into East and West. The divide already exists in the minds of the people. Putin will exploit it and there will be no dumb Noldor "wasteland" fantasy that serves no purpose, again just a US boogerman idea.

Save that for the post apocalyptic Sci-Fi moves.

Here you go

Four occupied regions "vote" to be annexed to Russia. Putin will wants to uphold this behind the security of his nuclear arsenal. If he is going to try to legitimise his actions through "democratic" means, however dubious. Then he can't try to take rest of the country by force, against overwhelming opposition. He's played his hand now. Just in time for the campaigning season to come to an end.
1 day ago - Wednesday 9/28/22 - 2:43:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
From Wiki:
“The results of widely considered sham referendums in occupied territories were announced, which are all in favour of annexation into Russia, with Donetsk 99.23% in favour, Luhansk 98.42% in favour, Kherson 87.05%, and Zaporizhzhia at 93.11%. There were planned votes in Mykolaiv and Kharkiv oblasts. These never happened, mainly due to limited control of territory.”

The key word there is “sham”

Feel free to change it if you feel it is incorrect.

Whether it is "sham" or not. It demonstrates the ambition of Putin.

re you so stupid as to not recognise that there is no dispute for you to get your little winkie out to try to have a pissing contest?

Everyone knows it's "sham" but let's try thiss in Dumbass Conservative slogan. A line has been drawn in the sand and thatt line is over these 4 regions and not over the entire country.

Putin cannot claim he is trying to save ethnic Russians from Nazis if he tries to do that (I'm just repeating myself now) because you have shown you are to stupid to read what I posted and you are trying to point out to me the very thing I said like some f*cking moron.
20 hrs ago - Thursday 9/29/22 - 5:28:14 AM EST (GMT-5)
Putin will not try to carry out a winter campaign against Nationalist Ukrainians entrenched in the West. NATO will not try to intervene in occupied Ukraine for the foreseeable future so Putin will consolidate his political influence in the East of the country and declare himself as a victor.

Don't bother with any more pissing now. Shut the f*ck up with your bullsh*t and them come back in March and tell me what you think has happened by then.

Keep all your fantasies and your repeats of what I said back to me until then. I have no more time to allocate to such a stupid c*nt as you.
