More people are killed by hands/feet/fists than are killed by AR15s each year.

I think you can't kill as many people with a knife as easily as you would with an actual AR 15. Just a thought! (Also I don't think there would be a knife massacre every like other week :) ) Also compare our gun violence to other places like Australia and Canada and watch as we absolutely tower over them. It's actually kind of embarrassing even

And this also applies to guns in general?

Also i guess many of these massacres used AR 15 styled rifles though so?

This applies to knives and AR15s- - the gun that people are demanding be banned.

That's kinda my point though- - you concentrate on the massacres instead of looking at the larger issue. Rifles (including AR15s) are used to kill 450 or so people each year, while handguns are used to kill 20 times that number (or close to it).

The knee jerk reaction to ban AR15s isn't really going to make any significant difference in the firearm murder rate, but the anti-gun crowd is going to exploit the massacre to push their political agenda.

The larger issue being how easily accessible guns are in general, so tighter restrictions should be put on all fire arms right

Toilet paper confuses Amaqdrinker. Which side? The eternal conundrum.

Not sure what 'tighter restrictions' you are thinking about. I mentioned earlier that I don't have an issue with universal background checks.

Actually, that's wrong. The number of children killed by drunk drivers is about half the number of people (children and adults) killed by AR 15s.

So, because it’s only half the number, that makes it not an issue? Really? Yeah, that sounds not ridiculous. Oh, btw, cars are used for lots of other things and a lot more ppl own cars than ARs. See the issue there? Probably not. But it’s only folks who don’t want these guns around who are pushing their political agendas

You missed the point. It was in response to the comment about children not being killed with a bottle of vodka.

I can't walk into a store at 20 and get alcohol but that man literally bought a gun aha It definitely does make it a lot harder to get alcohol. And drugs. And I'm not killing elementary school children with a bottle of marshmallow vodka XD

I thought it appropriate to point out that the bottle of alcohol does indeed kill children.

It wasn’t. It was a deflection. You’re avoiding the point.

Deflection from what? He claim that kids don't get killed with a bottle of vodka?

Maybe it isn't 'only in the US'...

"Many statisticians believe the reason the CRPC study's results seem so counterintuitive is that they are incorrect. One of the more detailed analyses appeared on the fact-checking website snopes.com and concluded that the CRPC report used “inappropriate statistical methods” which led to misleading results."

The link and above shows the U.S. far above other countries in mass shootings.

The discussions would be much more productive if the issues such as the constant mass shootings in the U.S. were directly addressed instead of always trying to obfuscate or redirect the discussion. Just leads to frustration

Does the inappropriate method have to do with how you define a mass shooting?
26 days ago - Friday 6/3/22 - 6:22:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
The Snopes score was “mixed” which is understandable when using statistical methods of any kind.

The pro-gun nonprofit Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) report on mass shootings has been widely discredited. It's purpose was to show that all the mass shootings in U.S. are not really a unique problem and no need for gun controls.

Analogous to saying knives kill more people then the AR-15, so no need for a ban.

I’m just questioning who decides what acceptable statistical approximations are.

Knives are used to kill 4 times as often as the AR-15. Handguns are used to kill even more people than the AR-15.

Why should the AR-15 be banned while knives (along with other deadly weapons) are not? Calling for a ban is just an emotional response.
