After months of public pressure, James Spears said he will step down as conservator for his daughter pop singer Britney Spears.

He agreed to be removed from his daughter’s conservatorship so long as the transition is orderly and resolves all pending matters related to his acts as her conservator, he said in a filing Thursday with the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Within that document James Spears’ lawyers claim there were no actual grounds for his suspension or removal and that it is “highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears’ best interests.”

No timeline was laid out for the change.

Why is this important?

Like there’s someone directly above me at work who will act as liaison between higher ups and myself. Is he my conservator? He often gives me nonsense feedback and makes simple tasks more complicated but I’m also in the pit of data digging away to some avail and I probably don’t communicate on the same bullet point board room stratosphere.

I call my mother because I live by myself. Is my mother my conservator? Is any relationship that has a modicum of fulfilling some personal need a “conservatorship”? What kind of irrational Disney Land idea of reality do you want me to care about?

I really don’t give a sh*t about anything concerning Britney Spears or what happens to her and I think this only fuels the cult of personality that we have come to define ourselves with.

I like the song F*ck California by PUSA infinitely more than any Disney queen pop song. Please fall into the ocean.

Because some people like celebrity news and some people are Britney fans. I like her and her music.

Also I read something about conservatorships being a massive issue in the USA. Obviously this is just celeb gossip but it an institution rife with abuse.

"Low has introduced legislation that would require non-professional conservators (such as Spears’s father) to register with the state if they are overseeing estates greater than $1m, mandate that professionals involved in conservatorships be transparent about their fees and create policies to fine or revoke the licenses of conservators who are not acting in the best interest of the individual."

this concerns me since they'd essentially create two systems. wonder what us average people would have to deal with.

Estate values of $1 million+ don't sound all that out of line considering the current average net worth of households at retirement age.

Surely the Median is the more useful number there, no?

1 billionaire is the average equivalent of 100,000 people with 10,000 dollars

The 400 richest Americans have a net worth of $3.2 trillion.

there are an additional 217 billionaire as of March 2020

So maybe 4 trillion.

That's $16,000 Average nett worth for every person (not household)

Average household is 2.62 gives a boost to average net worth of $42,000 per household from 617 people.

I don’t know all the details, but she does seem competent enough to manage her own money. I hope so anyway.

had a conversation with the wife about this yesterday, she's been doing well for herself other than the really strict conservatorship rules. hope for all the best for her.
