People have been telling me that I should give Stephen King's son's work a try and Heart-Shaped Box seems to be a favorite with people I know, so I downloaded it. He's Stephen King's son, alright! I sometimes forget that I'm not reading one of King's books. Boy is this one creepy. I find I have to say some prayers before going to sleep, especially if I'm reading it right before to keep the nightmares at bay. So far, no horrible nightmares. I think I might have had some weird dreams because of it the one night, though.

You know, I have to be honest, I read this one in high school and I didn't really love it. Maybe you'll find the resolution more satisfying than I did.

By resolution, you mean the end and trying to get away from "him?" Don't spoil it, but I have something to look forward to, I guess.

By resolution, I just mean the end of the story. Not telling you what happens!! I just recall not liking it much.

To be honest, the entire story felt sort of... forgettable to me? There's only one part I distinctly remember about it, and it didn't even have to do with the main plot line.

I finished it. I really liked it. I was happy with how things ended in it. I was so afraid that the evil was going to win in the end and I hate when that happens.

At the end there were a couple of excerpts from other books of his. The first was from NOS4A2, which does seem interesting, but the other excerpt really grabbed me right away. It was from The Fireman. I just ordered that one.

Hmm. Maybe if you like the Fireman I'll try that one. I might as well give his books one more try - I hear lots of good things about him!

I'm really enjoying The Fireman. In his acknowledgments, Hill actually thanks his dad for some of the ideas he "stole" from him. I can sort of see The Stand in this. And in a way The Shining, but not because of anything to do with the story of The Shining. I only say that because of something that happens with certain infected people. That's all I'll say about that. So far, I think this is really good. And I'm glad its a pretty lengthy book. I was disappointed that the King books I downloaded in January were so short.

Which King books did you download in January? I'll add The Fireman to my list - if it's got vibes from The Shining, I might really enjoy it!

I got The Bazaar of Bad Dreams (a collection of 21 short stories), Carrie, and Elevation. I expected Carrie to be longer than it was. Elevation is a recent book of his. It's not scary. Even a lot of the short stories in Bazaar aren't all that scary. The first one was.
