Anybody read this book, what did you think about it?
16 yrs ago - Thursday 6/16/05 - 10:29:10 PM EST (GMT-5)
I am reading it, and I think it's a great book. It's long, but very descriptive and interesting. Ayn Rand had a lot of philosophies that I don't completely agree with, but she was a great author.

Was that the one about the architect?

It was dreadful. Silly and preachy.

Yes, it is the one about the architect. It does preach a lot of her dreary philosophy, but I still find it enjoyable.

yes, ayn rand had talent as a writer. that said, i could never really enjoy her books. her philosophical justifications for being a sociopath put me off.

Why? (Just curious.)

I didn't see it that way at all.

I appreciated it much more after reading Atlas Shrugged and Anthem.
I also attended a session on 'Ayn Rand and the Hollywood Blacklisting', put on by the Director of the Ayn Rand Institute. It was fantastic, of course.

It took me years to appreciate her as much as I do.
I didn't like her work upon first reading, though.

Ayn Rand was blacklisted?

Atlas Shrugged was a tiny bit preachy in some parts, but I don't think Fountainhead was.

There are some videos online of the exact panel discussion I went to. It was insane.. There were so many screaming old men. I've never seen anything like it, really.

And isn't that Rand Institute guy a bit of a screaming yellow zonker himself?
15 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 6/18/05 - 5:05:08 AM EST (GMT-5)
..Okay is a 'screaming yellow zonker' an actual thing? Or a saying? That was one of my lines in a children's theatre piece on magic.

Anyhow, YES! He's.. interesting.

You only think this because you refuse to understand basic economics.
